Banksy

Banksy art and history

Banksy is a British graffiti artist who has no confirmed identity. He was born in 1974 and raised in Bristol; his dad was a photocopier technician, Banksy trained to become a butcher but got involved with graffiti art in the great Bristol aerosol boom of the late 1980s. Banksy does not sell his street art himself but some of his work does get auctioned off. In 2001 Banksy started freehand graffiti and evolved his work and identity into stencil work and started to become recognised on a national scale as a political graffiti artist. Most of Banksys work tends to be in black and white with an area in colour to emphasize it.

One of Banksys main pieces of art is the destroyed phone box were banksy and his friends stole an ordinary phone box took it back to their work shop and welded it in the middle and stuck a pick axe in it to show an other side of vandalism.
